Characters Profiles - Slink
"Slink" - Mid 20's Caucasian male. He dropped out of education at 16 to pursue what he called the "easy life". By the age of 25 he had a long criminal history of car theft, burglary and assault but soon got involved in much more serious jobs resulting in much more serious crimes. Kidnapping, GBH, attempted murder, no job is too big for Slink.

"OJ" - Early 20's Caucasian male. Youth kick boxing sensation, banned from the sporting world due to failing a drugs test. The underground gang scene soon realised they could benefit from his talents and consequently he wasn't unemployed for long.

Characters Profiles - Mairead
Mairead - Mid 20's Caucasian female. Only daughter to multi-millionaire business tycoon Patrick O'Shea. Up until recently Mairead has been living off of "Daddy's Yacht" but she has just begun to find her own two feet and has recently married Nigel West, a business associate of Patrick O'Shea.

Film analysis
I'm going to analyse Reservoir Dogs because that is a similar film to ours, Reservoir Dogs is a crime gone wrong film, as is ours.
In the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs the characters are sat in a cafe just having general conversation, the cafe scene is a good establishing point in the film, we see all the characters, but we have no idea of how the plot will unfold.
At the beginning of Reservoir Dogs the audience does not yet know the story line, our production is similar to this because the plot is not discovered until the boot is opened and the dead body is found, before this point the audience is unaware of what is to come.
Reservoir Dogs uses a song at the beginning to set the mood, the song is cheerful and does not reflect what is about to come. our film is similar, the mood contrasts from action to thriller, whilst driving, when the audience are unaware the music is upbeat, the music changes when the body is found and the mood changes. Reservoir Dogs use a cut scene from when the music is playing and when they are leaving the cafe to when one of them is laid in the back covered in their own blood, this changes the mood of the film instantly and fills the viewers with shock and awe.

Film Title
The film title we have chosen is 'Kidnap'. We have chose to call our film this because the main story is based on a kidnapping.
We Picked a simple film title so when the target audience hears the film title they will instantly know what the film is about and what can be expected of it. Films like "Hostage" and "Transporter" also have used this method naming their titles.

The genre we have chosen to do is a sub-genre of the Thriller genre, more specifically Action-Thriller.
The Thriller genre contains types of films known to promote;
Intense excitement
Suspense
A high level of anticipation
Ultra-heightened expectation
Uncertainty
Anxiety
High levels of tension.
The sub-genre, Action-Thriller, often features a race against the clock and contains;
Lots of violence
Involvement with guns
Explosions
Large elaborate set pieces to which the action takes place.

SHOT 4 – MTS of both Slink and OJ sat at table exchanging few

Exterior – Car on driveway – Daytime
SHOT 5 – MS from directly behind car as both doors
Simultaneously shut.
SHOT 6 – MS inside car of OJ quickly pulling over seatbelt.

OK, we'll set off now.
Car sets off, driving to the destination.
OJ
Remember we've gotta be back for about 8 to meet all them.
SLINK
Where are we meeting everyone?
OJ
Crown at 8...as always
Oh and don't wear that hat again! Wouldn't let you in with it on last time we were out.
SLINK
Right, ok. I won't! we off to town after? ive got cash so i'm up for it.
OJ
Ok well we can sort that later, just give em a ring.

Eh?

Check the boot I cant hear anything!
Slink
Shit!!
EXT. ROADSIDE, MORNING
Slink and OJ get out of the car to check the boot.
Slink opens the boot.
The hostage is laid very quite and still.
OJ
Check her pulse!
Slink checks the pulse and looks up with an obvious look that she's dead.
Slink
What we gonna do now?
OJ
Oh god! Oh god, let me think!
Ring the boss and see what he thinks we should do.
Slink
Why do I have to ring?
OJ
Just ring him! If you don't we're both dead men!
Slink rings the boss and explains what's happened
Slink
We don't know what happened! one minute she was screaming the next she wasn't, we just thought she give up trying to shout for help.
I dunno lack of oxygen or something!

Treatment
Film name: Kidnapped
Audience: 15 to 25, both genders.
Story Outline: Nigel West, the husband of the multi-millionaire heiress, Mairead O'Shea, stages a kidnapping of his wife to get ransom money from her rich father, Patrick O'Shea, but the kidnapping goes wrong. Mairead is killed. She's kidnapped by two notorious criminals, Slink and OJ, they accidentally kill her by gagging her too tight, and dies from lack of oxygen.
Patrick deems the circumstances suspicious, so he hires some unorthodox private investigators to discover the true roots behind his daughters death.
Slink and OJ become paranoid about their involvements in the kidnapping so they attempt an escape through the Channel Tunnel, but the investigators soon catch up to them and intervene, leading to a Full-Speed car chase and shoot out in the Channel Tunnel.
